Pratt High School wrestlers Taye Wilson and Blake Winsor entered the Folkstyle Nationals the weekend after representing their Greenback team at the state high school wrestling tournament, continuing to press on with skill and talent past post-season accomplishments.
Wilson was the Kansas High School State Wrestling Champion at 175 lbs. A fete he accomplished three years in a row. His senior season win-loss record was 48-0.
At the Folkstyle Nationals, Wilson competed in the Junior Boys Division of Junior Nationals, wrestling at MidAmerican Energy Complex RecPlex, the new host venue of USA Wrestling’s premier folkstyle event in Des Moines, Iowa.
With two pins and two technical falls, Wilson dominated the 165-pound bracket as the on-paper favorite in his semifinal against Iowa’s Xayvion Anderson. Winsor was eliminated in an early round of competition.
Acording to Cullan Wilson, father of Taye Wilson, the Pratt athlete defeated Anderson and had “one heck of a run into the finals with 3 pins and 2 TF before losing to VA Tech commit Claudio Torres 10-4.”
Wilson was named the 2025 Junior National Runner-up Taye Wilson at 165 pounds. He was one of five athletes in the Junior Boys division looking for repeat bids, joined by Cason Craft of Oklahoma, Caleb Noble of Illinois, Geronimo Rivera of Utah, and Leimana Fager of Utah.
Wilson is a D1 Little Rock D1 in wrestling and will continue his athletic career in Arkansas after graduation from Pratt High School in May.
Winsor was also a state placer at the 4A State High School wrestling tournament, then wrestled as a Kansas Shrine Dual rep at 157 lbs. where he won the match over an Olathe North opponent. He has committed to Pratt Community College for continued wrestling competition and study.
