The Tri-County Tribune has been naming one male and one female as our Athletes of the Week and this is our fourth installment for this 2024 fall sports season recognition. Selections are made from high school student-athletes in the five schools in our coverage area: Pratt High School, Skyline High School, Macksville High School, Stafford High School, St. John High School, and Kiowa County High School.

At the end of the season, readers will vote on their favorite High School Fall Athlete of the season. Watch our website at www.tricountytribune.news for more information on this end-of-season award and to keep track of our weekly winners.

Pratt High School senior football player Taye Wilson is the week 4 Tri-County Tribune Athlete of the Week. Wilson and the Greenbacks won another game last Friday, October 11, going 49-20, over Phillipsburg. Wilson rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns, while also picking up 43 receiving yards. He has now punched in two or more touchdowns in the last five games he’s played dating back to last season.

Kory Anschutz, Skyline High School senior volleyball extraordinaire recently surpassed 1,000 career assists in volleyball and has over 700 career kills for the Thunderbirds.  As the female Athlete of the Week for week 4, Anschutz leads Skyline in aces on the season and she led the team again on Saturday when Skyline defeated Pretty Prairie. Anschutz tallied 15 digs, ten kills, and two aces in the match. This was her fifth straight competition with six or more kills dating back to last season.
