Wilson and Meyer are Tri-County Tribune week 10 Athlete of the Week picks

Taye Wilson

Senior Taye Wilson of Pratt recently recorded his 150th win on the wrestling mats in high school competition and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Regional Tournament last week. This Greenback has worked hard and put in the time to become one of the best wrestlers to represent Pratt High School. He is also a great motivator and team member, worthy again to be named the Tri-County Tribune male Athlete of the Week, this time for week 10. Good luck at State! (See Editor’s Note below.)

Mia Meyer

St. John High School junior Mia Meyer had a big game last Friday with 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Tigers over a determined and scrappy Macksville team. In a team loaded with talent, it was Meyer’s night to shine in the 61-40 win which secures a #2 seed for the St. John-Hudson team in Sub-State with action starting Saturday, March 1 when they play Coldwater. Congratulations to Meyer who is our week 10 female Tri-County Tribune Athlete of the Week.

*Editor’s Note: Since the naming of week 11 AOTW selections Wilson has won the 4A State Champion Wrestling title; and the St. John-Hudson Lady Tigers have qualified for the next round of sub-state basketball competition. In the print version of this weekly presentation, the week number was listed as 11 but is actually for week 10. Next week is week 11. Watch the Tribune website for coming state wrestling reports and articles.
