Sunflower Summer includes local places

July 14 through August 3 – The countdown in ON! Kansas school-aged kids and one adult get FREE admission to incredible attractions through the Sunflower Summer app—including: Big Well Museum, Kiowa County Museum and Soda Fountain, 5.4.7 Arts Center, Heart of America Science Center in Haviland, and M.T. Liggett Art Environment in Mullinville. The Big Well also has a coupon on TravelKS.com so a second adult can get in free too.

Stafford County Fair

July 15-19 – The 2025 Fair Entry Program is Now Open! We’re excited to see what everyone has been working on this year—whether it’s crafts, livestock, baking, or any other project you’ve poured your heart into. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the Stafford County Fair!

Lisa Buchweitz shows Northern Exposures

July 19 – Opening Meet-The-Artist reception at the Vernon Filley Art Museum, 5-7 p.m. for Corridor Exhibit featuring the remarkable wildlife photography of Lisa Buchweitz of North Dakota. All are invited!

Desmond O’Hagan Pastel & Oil Workshop

July 18-20 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Comprehensive 3-day workshop for pastel and oil painters at the 5.4.7 Arts Center. This workshop is designed to help you see your subjects in a new light, and paint with minimal strokes in refining shapes and edges with oils and pastels. $425 class fee. Summer Fun Night in Haviland

July 18 – Kids: decorate your own car box and “drive in” to see Cars on Friday, July 18 at Haviland Heritage Park. Car parade begins at 8 p.m., movie starts at 8:30 p.m. Popcorn and drinks provided.

Envision sponsors visual impairment meeting

July 22 – Improve quality of live with information from Envision for those who are blind or visually impaired by attending a public meeting at Pratt Public Library, 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 22. RSVP to Lu Bitter, 620-388-0992, or lu501bit@gmail.com.

Commodities (Dept. of Child and Family Services)

July 23 – Pratt County residents may come to the Pratt Community Center, 619 N. Main, Commodities (Dept. of Child and Family Services) 2-5 p.m. to pick up commodities on the 4th Wed. every other month. Government income guidelines apply. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Pratt County Fair

July 23-26 – Friday night’s entertainment will be a FREE Street Dance with live music from Jared Brown and the Dirt Road Misfits – and a beer garden. Changing things up this year with the Demo Derby on Saturday night. This is the only ticketed event this year.

Fall Prevention Day – help needed

August 8 – The application deadline to be considered for volunteer help with fall and trip hazards in your home or the home of a loved one is Friday, August 8. Contact Stacy Hanson at 450.450.1655 or shanson@prmc.org, before then, for more information on how to get help or to be a community service volunteer. PRMC Fall Prevention Day is October 11.

Family Summer Movie Night on the Lawn

August 8 – Genesis Center, 123 N Oak St, Pratt – Showing Shrek 2. Bring the whole family as we celebrate the end of summer! Bring your lawn chairs and or blankets as we watch a movie on the lawn of the Genesis Center.

Free School Supplies for Stafford County

Bring your preschool-6th grade students in to get ready for a great school year! Pick up at Stafford County Drug. Time slots suggested for pickup: Preschool – 6th Grade: Open 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Stafford USD 349: August 4th – 6th. Macksville USD 351: August 7th, 8th, 11th. St. John USD 350: August 12th – 14th.

End of Summer Paramount Concert

August 22 – Celebrate the end of summer with our favorite 80s band PARAMOUNT! Join us for a great time singing along to all your favorite 80s Rock Anthems on Friday night, August 22, from 8-10:30 p.m. at Green Sports Complex. Purchase tickets at https://visitpratt.simpletix.com/.

Bob Ross Landscape Painting Workshop

August 27, 5-8 p.m. – $60 per participant. Must pay $5 to reserve your spot. All supplies provided. Hosted by the Pratt Public Library.

8th Annual Pratt Oktoberfest

September 20 – Yes, it is in September. Join us for the best party in town, the 8th Annual Pratt Oktoberfest will be held in Lemon Park, 5-10 p.m. We’ll have yard games, the Jim Kucera band, stein holding contest, food trucks and cold beverages. This event is 21 & over only and all the proceeds go to local philanthropic causes.
