Fireworks show at Pratt County Lake

July 5 – Community fireworks show at Pratt County Veterans Memorial Lake on Saturday, July 5 by the Pratt American Legion Riders. Show starts at dusk; donations accepted at the entrance.

Kid’s Independence Day Fishing Derby

July 5 – The Ninnescah Chapter of Pheasants Forever hosts a kid’s fishing derby at the KDWP Kids Fishing Pond, from 7 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5 at 512 SE 25th Ave. Prizes awarded; experts on hand to help bait hooks and identify fish.

Reschedule Kids Fair is July 11

July 11 – Bring the family for a dayof swimming at the pool followed by free food and activities at the Pratt Armory. This is the rain-rescheduled Kids Fair hosted by Pratt County DEC. Swimming will be from 12:30-7 p.m. and games/activities/food at the Armory 4-7 p.m. on Friday, July 11.

Closing Day, Shawn Delker: On the Edge – Painting with Thread

July 5 from 1-4 p.m. – Vernon Filley Art Museum. Fiber artist Shawn Marie Delker learned the joy of sewing on her mom’s knee at the age of five and has been stitching ever since. She began quilting in 2000, and soon discovered art quilting. Currently she has developed a technique that could be called, painting with fabric.

Sunflower Summer includes local places

July 14 through August 3 – The countdown in ON! Kansas school-aged kids and one adult get FREE admission to incredible attractions through the Sunflower Summer app—including: Big Well Museum, Kiowa County Museum and Soda Fountain, 5.4.7 Arts Center, Heart of America Science Center in Haviland, and M.T. Liggett Art Environment in Mullinville. The Big Well also has a coupon on TravelKS.com so a second adult can get in free too.

Kiowa County Fair

July 14-16 – Fair setup is July 12, 8 am-12 pm, carnival 5 pm. Fair cleanup is July 17, 8 am-12 pm.

Stafford County Fair

July 15-19 – The 2025 Fair Entry Program is Now Open! We’re excited to see what everyone has been working on this year—whether it’s crafts, livestock, baking, or any other project you’ve poured your heart into. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the Stafford County Fair!

Lisa Buchweitz shows Northern Exposures

July 19 5-7pm – Opening Meet-The-Artist reception at the Vernon Filley Art Museum. Corridor Exhibit featuring the remarkable wildlife photography of Lisa Buchweitz of North Dakota.

Desmond O’Hagan Pastel & Oil Workshop

July 18-20 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Comprehensive 3-day workshop for pastel and oil painters at the 5.4.7 Arts Center. This workshop is designed to help you see your subjects in a new light, and paint with minimal strokes in refining shapes and edges with oils and pastels. $425 class fee. Commodities (Dept. of Child and Family Services)

July 23 – Pratt County residents may come to the Pratt Community Center, 619 N. Main, Commodities (Dept. of Child and Family Services) 2-5 p.m. to pick up commodities on the 4th Wed. every other month. Government income guidelines apply. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Pratt County Fair

July 23-26 – Friday night’s entertainment will be a FREE Street Dance with live music from Jared Brown and the Dirt Road Misfits – and a beer garden. Changing things up this year with the Demo Derby on Saturday night. This is the only ticketed event this year.

Darren Parker Watercolor Class

August 13, 5-7 p.m. – $30 per participant. $5 to reserve your spot. Traditional watercolors will be provided. For 9th grade and up. Hosted by the Pratt Public Library.

End of Summer Paramount Concert

August 22 – Celebrate the end of summer with our favorite 80s band PARAMOUNT! Join us for a great time singing along to all your favorite 80s Rock Anthems on Friday night, August 22, from 8-10:30 p.m. at Green Sports Complex. Purchase tickets at https://visitpratt.simpletix.com/.

Bob Ross Landscape Painting Workshop
