St. John High School golf team coach Danton Hilton is ready to get out on the greens with his team and tee-off for a great spring season.
“We will be led by senior Brody Viuex who qualified for State last year after finishing in 8th Place at regionals,” Hilton said. “Weston Peterson placed 6th last year at our league tournament and will be another good golfer for us this year. Senior Josh Chapman and juniors Averi Fisher, Cody Newdigger, Tanner Mawhirter all bring back plenty of varsity experience.”
Hilton said that freshman Easton Alpers and Dylan Viuex all have some golf experience and the team is excited to see what they can accomplish during their first year out on the course.
The Tiger golf schedule for the spring season is as follows: 4-3—at St. John JV; 4-7— Varsity at Wichita, Rolling Hills; 4-10—at Medicine Lodge JV; 4-14—at Kinsley JV; Varsity St. John ; 4-21—Varsity at Sterling; 4-22— Varsity at Larned; 4-24—at Hesston JV; 5-1—Varsity at Hesston; 5-5—at Sterling JV; 5-8—Varsity at Hutchinson, Carey Park; 5-12— Central Prairie, Dodge City; at Kinsley JV; 5-15—at Kinsley; 5-19/20—at 1A regional.
