Some people came in full 80s regalia with neon clothes and heavy-metal wigs, others dug up old concert shirts, but most just showed up as they were ready to dance and sing the night away with Paramount, an 80s rock group that performed last Saturday in Pratt, Kansas.
“People enjoyed the music all night. We were very happy with the turn-out and have had some great feedback already,” said concert organizer and Pratt Tourism Ambassador Tiffany Riley. “I’m still figuring out how many we had, but we sold a lot of tickets at the door than the last time we did this. That was surprising. It was a fun night. People were singing along with the whole show, top to bottom, and we had all ages here.”
Riley said that not only was the fan-base happy to have an 80s show in town, but members of the Paramount group told her they really enjoyed performing in a place like the Pratt Municipal Building because it was a great, intimate, space and indoor arena.
“They complimented us on our community and the fact that we have this great place for events like this,” Riley said. “I guess that is what this is all about, bringing people to Pratt and showcasing what have here and how special it is.”
As Pratt Ambassador, Riley said she is working on a big master calendar to help record event plans and keep events from overlapping.
“Some of these things take a lot of planning, so if we can work at keeping better track of who is doing what and when, it benefits us all,” she said.
Riley works to support all types of Pratt events and hopes anyone planning something for the public will contact her so she can help advertise and promote area events.
More concerts are coming, she said, but plans are not ready just yet for the announcement stage. She advised people should join a Visit Pratt social media platform she has established to keep up on current events and see announcements of future entertainment as well as community sports events plans.
