The Pratt High School boys’ basketball team has continued to have success as they progress through the final games of the regular season. They have won their past three games after losing to a tough Hesston team earlier in the month.
In the game against Hesston, the Greenbacks found many improvements that needed to be made. They ended up losing this game by a final score of 35-47. In total, Pratt had 16 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 4 blocks.
From the field, Pratt was 47%, and they shot 25% from beyond the arc. However, they were only 38% from the free throw line, which needs to be much higher come postseason.
The next game was against the Larned Indians on Friday, February 14. Here, the Greenbacks hosted their rival school, determined to get back on the winning track. The team played significantly better in this matchup, as they brought an efficient offense that was paired with stifling defense. This game was also played in the newly renovated Frog Dome at the PAC, which produced a great home crowd environment for the Greenbacks. They won this game by a final score of 64-26.
Next was Pratt’s rematch against the Haven Wildcats. In their first meeting, Haven narrowly won in a low scoring game, but Pratt was out for revenge in their second meeting.
This game was back-and-forth throughout the majority of the game. However, late in the fourth quarter, Pratt went on a major scoring run, which they were able to hold. They won this game by a final score of 54-43.
In the stat book, Pratt had some solid numbers. First, they totaled 32 rebounds, doubling Haven’s total. They also had 14 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. The Greenbacks improved their field goal percentage, which was 50%. They were also 33% from beyond the arc and 62% from the free throw line.
Most recently, Pratt hosted the Smoky Valley Vikings for their winter sports senior night. This was Pratt’s last regular season home game as well. Similar to the Larned game, the Greenbacks were able to jump out to a big lead in the early minutes, which they continued to expand upon. They won this game by a final score of 66-25.
In total, Pratt had 30 rebounds, 18 assists, 9 steals, and 3 blocks in this contest. These, along with great shooting numbers, allowed them to dominate the Vikings for all four quarters. They shot 57% from the field and 45% from three.
The team will look to continue to produce these numbers in their last regular season contest. This will be on Tuesday, February 25, when the Greenbacks will travel to Hillsboro for their last CKL matchup of the season.
