Several members of the Pratt Lions Club received special recognition at their Wednesday, March 5, 2025 meeting, held at noon in the Shrack Meeting Room at Pratt Regional Medical Center. Lions Club International First Vice District Governor Lou Morgan of Stafford attended the meeting, along with his wife Patty, to present awards to Denis Rasmussen, Stacey Canfield, and Keenan Stultz.
Rasmussen was awarded a certificate for 50 years of membership in the Pratt Lions Club, one of the oldest clubs in the state, chartered in 1921.
“I joined when there was still a Downtown Lions Club and and Evening Lions Club here in Pratt. We had such a large membership we had to have two different meeting times,” Rasmussen said.
Pratt Lions Club President Andy Lee recognized Rasmussen for his continued level of active service, commenting that the club was very thankful for his leadership and input, as well as for his work with the plastic bags to benches project.
“Denis has always been very committed to the Pratt Lions Club and we wouldn’t be where we are today without him,” Lee said.
Recognized posthumously for long-term Pratt Lions Club membership was Evan Grund, who was represented by his daughter, Stacey Canfield. Morgan presented her with a certificate honoring her father for 40 years of service as part of the Pratt Lions Club. Canfield was also welcomed as a new member of the club, which she joined as of March 4.
Another new member, Keenan Stultz, was welcomed into the Pratt Lions Club with official certificate and pins of membership. He has attended meetings for a year but was officially welcomed as a member at this meeting.
Lee said the Pratt Lions Club has seen an uptick of new members in the past year, for which he is very grateful. The Pratt Lions Club continues to serve as a community collection organization for used eyeglasses which are repurposed for distribution where needed, collects trash bags that are turned into benches, provides monthly teacher gifts in local school districts, offers barrel train rides at community events, plus conducts other service projects.
Morgan commended the Pratt Lions Club for their community service and outlined opportunities within the greater Lions Club organization at district and state levels. He encouraged others who might be looking for ways to get involved with the service organization to join by attending local meetings.
The Pratt Lions Club continues to meet at noon every Wednesday, but has changed official meeting place to the Shrack Room at PRMC, easily accessed by entering through the Emergency doors on the south side of PRMC and turning at the first right down that hallway.
