Pratt Community College is pleased to announce Scott Megaffin as the recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Alumni Award. This annual award is given to honor an alumnus who has completed at least 30 credit hours and who embodies both success in their chosen field and a heart for service to their community.
Megaffin is a Pratt native and 1982 graduate of Pratt Community College. He has been
selected for his exemplary achievements and leadership in the pharmaceutical and
biotechnology industries. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Adiso
Therapeutics since January 2022, Scott brings over 35 years of extensive industry
experience in his role. His career has been marked by significant contributions in CEO (Chief Executive Officer), senior executive, and board director positions across Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies and emerging biotech firms.
Among his notable leadership roles, Scott previously served as the CEO of Adastra
Pharmaceuticals Inc., where he spearheaded the advancement of groundbreaking
clinical programs aimed at addressing previously unmet high-priority needs in cancer treatment. His tenure culminated in the successful acquisition of Adastra Pharmaceuticals Inc. by Cothera Bioscience. Before this, Scott served as President of Churchill Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he guided the company through the rigorous FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval process for an oral oncology asset focused on metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer, which later saw acquisition by Sun Pharma.
Scott Megaffin’s illustrious career includes strategic and operational responsibilities at
Onconova, Schering-Plough, Yamanouchi, Pharmacia, and Bristol-Myers Squibb, where
he led multiple global drug development programs which resulted in regulatory approvals
across various therapeutic categories including oncology, anti-infective medications, inflammation preventatives, pain management, critical care, and virology.
Currently, Scott remains actively engaged in the industry as a board member
of Adastra and serves on the Board of Directors for BioNJ, the leading biotechnology
and life sciences organization in New Jersey.

The award ceremony will take place on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 3:00 PM in Carpenter Auditorium located on the beautiful Pratt Community College campus. It will be followed by a reception.
