The Pratt High School archery team attended their first tournament of the year on Saturday, February 1, at Clearwater High School. Only three of the team’s archers were able to attend but they represented the team very well.
This is the first year to participate in archery at PHS for two of them, Lochlan Willis and Taygan Smith and the second year for Cadence Messick. All three participated in the Bullseye shoot and the 3D shoot. Messick achieved a score of 176 for the Bullseye and 207 for the 3D. Taygan shot a 167 in the Bullseye beating Willis by only one point.
Willis achieved a score of 163 in the Bullseye competition even though neither he nor Smith had ever shot 3D before the meet.
The archery team along with the Blythe Fitness Center will be hosting Archery at the Blythe again on Monday, February 24 from 6-8 p.m. This opportunity to shoot or learn to shoot bow and arrow is free and is open to school age children through adults. It is a come and go event and equipment is provided. Additional Archery at the Blythe nights are scheduled for March and April.
On Saturday, March 1, the PHS Archery team will hold their annual Pratt State Qualifying Tournament at the Blythe Fitness Center. The tournament is open to the public and PHS archers look forward to the support of the community. There is a $5 entrance fee for all spectators (children 5 years old and younger are free).
