Pastoral Commentary: We who have hope should share it

The biblical story of the birth of Jesus Christ found in Luke 2:1-20 has been read over and over by those who have faith in God during the Christmas season, but it has a message that should be read over and over again all through the year. And this message should be shared with others.

The Christmas story brings us to the place where God came to be among his people. It never gets old and every time we share it with each other we are so amazed at what is taking place.

We find ourselves there with the shepherds, looking on as the prophecy of God has been fulfilled. You and I rejoice with them because we hear about and see our Savior bringing our salvation to us. This account is so exciting because it brings us together as family and friends to raise our voices to God our Father for this most precious gift.

This great moment has given us the joy and excitement to run out like the shepherds to tell everyone we can about God’s hope and promises made to us in Christ our Lord. We want people to understand the glory of God’s plan for us and how He has come to free us from sin and death.

At this time of the year we have such a great opportunity to bring this glorious message to the people around us. The world needs hope and people need to see the Son of God in all His glory bringing salvation and life to those who would believe.

Be like a shepherd, run and tell someone of this miraculous event because it is still the best happening of all time.
