Due to an unexpected departure of advertising executive lead Kim Smith, longtime CherryRoad Media salesperson Lloyd Gum has returned to guide and facilitate local advertising needs for the Tri-County Tribune.

Gum starting selling advertising in 1974 with the High Plain Journal and worked many years in similar positions for the Dodge City Daily Glode, often helping out with the Pratt Tribune, St. John News and Kiowa County Signal newspapers when they were under different ownership/management from 2016-2020. As a CherryRoad Media employee, Gum currently handles advertising needs for the Tri-County Tribune and Dodge Globe, as well as for news outlets in La Junta and Bend County, Colorado. He also works for and with the Del Suroeste Spanish newspaper for Dodge and Garden City.

“I’m constantly learning the market area,” Gum said. “Digital marketing is the wave of our future, Face Book, E-mail blast, Geo products foe specific targeting and more; I work with all of that. We offer a variety audience, with print and our internet products and we can give you an audience anywhere from the Tri0County area to all over the USA. If you want to advertise, I’m your guy.”

Gum said that while the newspaper industry has been changing, it is still very important for local businesses to support this form of communication, especially for sales.

“Every community has a special interest area, Pratt-Kiowa-Stafford counties rely on the ag, health and local manufacturing industries to succeed. The local newspaper is still the best source for this kind of news and information,” Gum said. “People read these papers because they care about their neighbors, sports teams, community activities. Ad on these pages are seen and remembered, and then we can back them up with digital and social media technology that reaches customers near and far.”
