Local members of the Leadership League of South Central Kansas spent two days in Wichita at the Kansas Leadership Center participating in the KLC pathway program Your Leadership Edge. The Pratt-based class joined approximately 180 other professionals during the two day training. They participated in large group presentations and four rotations of smaller Edge Group break outs. In February, the class completed the first pathway program, When Everyone Leads which was a prerequisite to YLE.

Leadership styles and confronting difficult leadership situations required engagement and participation by class members as they met in smaller groups and with different people than they may have attended the conference with. They continued learning and networking while experimenting with different leadership situations and multiple interpretations about leadership.

The main point emphasized in the conference was that leadership is an activity, not a position. Leadership is risky and it is about facing tough challenges.

Program facilitators Holly Launchbaugh and Lisa Perez-Miller from Pratt also attended and met with KLC’s teaching team and staff during special breakout sessions for community leadership program facilitators in attendance.

Local members attending included Ariel Haskin, Evan Hance, Jeffery Shanline, John Giggy, Jon Morgan, Joshua McCray, Nick Lauffer, Ashley Bertram, Derese McAbee, Ethan Huston, Grady Stultz, Kamri Theis, Kodi Davidson, Mason Eck, Ryan Lunt, and Valeria Verbena.
