The Kiowa County High School boys basketball team continues to chalk up wins in the victory column as momentum carries them from late games into 2025.

On January 7, Kiowa County’s Brock Deterding (#5) had a big night with 26 points in a 72-49 win over Bucklin. Deterding – who poured in six 3s – was one of three Mavericks in double figures joined by Boone McDonald (#4) with 21 and Sawyer Campbell (#11) with 16. The win improved the Mavericks record to 5-2 on the season with the two losses by two and three to Meade and St. John just prior to the break. The Kiowa County Mavericks walked away with a 61-50 victory over the Ingalls Bulldogs in their next competition, making it back-to-back victories.

The Mavericks have now won three contests by 23 points or more this season and look to continue that streak as 2025 action gets back on schedule following some delays and weather issues.
