By virtue of their win over Pawnee Heights in February, the Kiowa County Boys claimed the SPIAA League regular season title with a league record of 10-1.

Despite a stand-out 35 points from Macksville’s Diego Esparza on Monday night, the Kiowa County Mavericks rose to the challenge winning a sub-state title appearance with a 64-58 victory over the Mustangs on March 3.

Both teams came into the 1A sub-state tournament with identical 14-4 records, but Kiowa County was ranked 4th, Macksville 6th.

Congratulations to both of these teams for a great season. Kiowa County will play in the Sub-State Championship game on Saturday night, opponent not yet known by press time.
