Home Lumber in Pratt is much more than just a place to buy building materials. On April 3, 2025, when store manager Andres Venegas introduced his team of employees to a Pratt Area Chamber Coffee Chat crowd he explained that Home Lumber is a place to find kitchen counters and sinks, appliances, flooring, lighting, and even the Easter bunny.

“Yes, yours truly will be here in costume, giving out Easter prizes, cookies, and photo ops from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.,” Venegas said. “This will be the third year for me; I’m all in.”

Venegas said it was his team of dedicated employees with a high standard of customer service that sets the store apart.

“We have a really good group of contractors to work with and our team leaders in the store are just great,” he said. “We can take care of you no matter what type of building project needs you have.”

Venegas said the Home Lumber business began in 1905, started in Ashland. Branch additions in the late 1990s included the Pratt location, a store remodel in 1997, then again in 2007, plus the addition of the Greensburg location in 2007, resulted in the current base from which customer needs can be met with great success. Home Lumber now has 16 locations, including the store at 803 N. Main Street just across the railroad tracks in Pratt.

Team members at the Pratt location include Robie Thomas, Flooring Manager; Michelle Simmons, Cabinet and Interior Design; Mandy Ramirez, Interior Design; Robyn Tritt, Purchasing Manager; Steven Rice, Assistant Manager; and Ramon Tapia, Gary Roberts, Andrew Bartel, customer service.

Sweet Creations, Jissel Estrada (785-914-7960) from Pratt, provided cookies and coffee for the Home Lumber Chamber event.
