Matt Wright, a Pratt, Kansas father, succumbed to injuries sustained in a structure fire at 706 W. Third Street on Monday afternoon. Emergency crews responded to a fire call shortly after 3 p.m. at the residence. Pratt Police Chief Nate Humble reported that a mother and several children evacuated the residence, but a man was still inside. Wright was removed from the home by first responders but died later.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office was on the scene of the fire for investigative purposes but has not yet released findings.

Participants in a local Facebook group, Pratt Neighbors Helping Neighbors, are in the process of setting up a GoFundMe account or possible clothing drive to help the family at this time of need. Information about this outreach will be updated as details are confirmed.
