Thirty-eight-year-old Pratt resident Matt Wright, succumbed to injuries sustained in a structure fire on Monday afternoon.
On December 16, 2024, at 2:38 p.m., the City of Pratt Fire Department, City of Pratt Police, and EMS were dispatched to a house on fire. It was reported that there were people inside the house, possibly trapped at 706 W. Third Street.
According to Pratt Police Chief Nate Humble, upon arrival of first responders, three occupants—a mother and her two children—were able to escape the residence, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. A man was still inside the residence.
Wright was removed from the home by emergency crews but died later from fire-related injuries at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
The State Fire Marshall’s Office was called to assist in investigating the cause of the fire, which was determined to be an accidental electrical fire.
