Community Conversations continue with Russell (Stafford County) and Barnes (Kiowa County)

The Tri-County Tribune continues to interview local leaders as part of a CherryRoad Media Community Conversations project featuring 5 Questions for 5 Leaders that lend insight into communication efforts in the Tribune’s coverage area.

The most recent interviews, all of which are available in full length on the Tri-County Tribune website at www.tricountrytribune.news, reveal interesting aspects of communication from Ryan Russell, Director of Stafford County Economic Development, and Stacy Barnes, City Administrator for the City of Greensburg. News points from those interviews follow, and may also be accessed under the Conversations tab on this newspaper’s website.

Stafford County – grant-funding housing starts to begin middle to end of February 2024 for St. John and Stafford; Grey’s Studio projects move forward with grant-funded renovation on the inside and finish the building in 2024; working with new building for Stafford County Fairgrounds as fundraising continues; childcare remains a top issue for funding.

Kiowa County/Greensburg – tenants needed for business park in Greensburg; pump track construction finished this past summer in park near swimming pool; thankful for generous donors after the 2007 tornado who continue to support growth in Greensburg; new housing construction continues to meet needs.

Communication points – better networks help us live well and meet needs (RR); need to know how people get their information (SB); need to let others know about value-added products available (RR); newspaper is the sentinel of community through the decades, where people go to find what has happened – need to find a way to do more pre-cedes of events (SB); people should know more about elected officials thoughts and concerns (RR); need to realize that people trust their elected officials, so if there is not an issue, there is not going to be a lot of people show up at civic events (SB); the local newspaper is an important arm of everything we do (RR).
