Players step up to lead as Pratt boys battle through tough games

The Pratt High Sschool boys’ basketball team has found great success through the beginning and middle of the season. While they have had their share of blowout victories, there have also been a couple of games that have required them to face adversity and use grit to persevere through them. After a couple of tough losses to Hesston and Hillsboro, the program managed to bounce back with a much-needed sweep over Halstead on Tuesday, February 8th.

Mustang gals win over the Coyotes

Macksville (10-6, 1-1 CPL) led 16-6 after the first quarter eight minutes before outscoring the Kinsley Coyotes 13-7 in the second quarter for a 29-17 advantage at halftime From there, the Lady Stangs were able to widen their lead on their way to the 37-point win. Kambry Adams led the Lady Stangs with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals. Mayce Russell added 13 points, 3 assists and 7 steals. Senior Abi Ibarra ended with 6 points, 7 steals, and 3 assists. Junior Joselin Garcia added 9 points, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 5 steals. The Lady Stangs’ next match-up is against the Lady Aces of Bucklin.

Kiowa County High School basketball teams take on Ashland Bluejays

This past Tuesday evening the Kiowa County High School girls’ and boys’ basketball teams played games against the Ashland Bluejays. The girls team owned their games with a significant lead over the opposing side. The girls team won with a final score of 39 points for the Mavericks and 22 points for the Bluejays. The Kiowa County top scorer was starter Addison Sherer, who scored 12 points overall. Ashland was led by starter Biannca Ceniceros, with 6 total points scored.

Archery lessons offered at Blythe

The Pratt High School Archery team participated in an open archery event Monday, January 24 at Blythe Family Fitness. That evening, the Blythe and Kansas Dept. of Wildlife and Parks offered archery instruction for anyone interested in learning more or trying their hand at the sport.
