Pratt Lady Beavers defeat Cloud County 87-74

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College Beavers kicked off the month of December by hosting the T-Birds of Cloud County Community College this afternoon, December 3. The T-Birds entered this afternoon’s contest sitting at the top of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference standings. The Beavers were coming off a dominating win on Wednesday, November 30 at Wayland Baptist ( JV) 84-64.

Last year’s Macksville High School girls basketball team experienced the first winning record in 18 years for the girls’ program. It was a confidence booster for sure, and many girls from that team return. But Megan Schroeder is focused on continued improvement for the 2022-23 season.

First student commits to FHSU Officer Candidate School Program

HAYS, Kan. – Jackson Piper, Overland Park junior, was sworn-in to the Kansas Army National Guard in November. As the first student to be part of the FHSU Officer Candidate School program, he will start basic combat training immediately followed by advanced individual training in January. Piper will begin phase one of the Officer Candidate School program in the summer of 2024.

St. John Lady Tigers showing potential

This will be a year of big change for the Lady Tigers of St. John. The 2022-23 team loses four seniors to graduation, including their leading scorer and 3-pt % leader Darby Smith, who now plays for the Barton County Cougars. The Tigers return very little varsity experience, but Coach Danny Smith said he likes the potential of the young players coming on board.
