After a tough week one loss against the Hoisington Cardinals, the Pratt High School football team has found themselves back in the win column with two big victories over the Halstead Blue Dragons (41-0) and Larned Indians (41-6). In these contests, Pratt utilized a powerful offense and stifling defense that seemed to have worked out several kinks from their first week match up.

Charles Keefer transitions to full-time head esports coach at PCC

Pratt, Kan. - The Pratt Community College (PCC) athletic department is excited to announce the transition of Charles Keefer to full-time esports head coach. For the past three years, Keefer has served as both the esports head coach and sports information director. He transitioned to the athletic department in September 2021 to take over the sports information director position.

Kiowa County football up against tough competition

The Kiowa County Mavericks entered the 2025 season with a veteran core and a renewed sense of confidence under head coach Clint Young, now in the second season of his second stint leading the program. After finishing 4-5 in 2024, the Mavericks hope key experience on both sides of the ball will help them climb the standings in 8-Man I District 5. Two tough losses at the beginning of the season against Sublette (66-48) and Chase County (70-50) have dampened that early enthusiasm but there is plenty of time to get back to winning.

St. John Tigers win big over Ness City on homecoming night

Scott Krehbiel, Head High School Football Coach for USD #350 St. John-Hudson High School football team was happy to share stats from the Tigers week two 50-34 win over Ness City last Friday. The school, the town, supporters from all around were also happy to celebrate with the team on the convincing victory that was part of annual fall homecoming activities

Skyline defeats quality opponent at home

The Skyline Thunderbirds may not be the biggest dog in the fight, but there is no denying their grit, determination, and absolute will to win. As a matter of fact, the opposing coach from Fairfield made a special effort to note their physicality. “That was a compliment our boys are most proud of,” said Head Coach Andrew Nation. “I was excited to beat a quality opponent at home in the fashion the boys did, and [am] looking forward to seeing the results of the last two weeks build confidence going into week three.”

Skyline Thunderbirds finish strong in home cross country meet

The 18th Annual Skyline Invitational was run on Saturday, September 13, to a large and enthusiastic crowd in Pratt. At the 10 a.m. start, the weather was perfect, overcast with a slight breeze. The course was in tip-top shape, green and lush from weeks of rain and manicured to perfection. There were 30 middle school and high school teams in attendance, with 3 of the top four teams from last year’s 1A state championship at the meet, so competition was fierce.
