Recently, the Pratt High School Boys’ Basketball team competed in the annual Hoisington Winter Jam midseason tournament. This was a one-week tournament that featured seven other teams, and it also offered some needed competition for the Greenbacks.
Jeff Jacobsen spent decades as a photojournalist and as a photographer for University of Kansas athletics. Since he retired in 2020, he’s been working on a project to capture images of sports in all 105 counties in Kansas — and he’s almost done.
The St. John-Hudson High School girls basketball team took on an undefeated team this past week and won, improving their record to 9-2 and putting the rest of the league on notice that have post-season success in sight.
With the second half of the 2024-25 school year recently starting, the Pratt High School Girls’ Wrestling team rang in the new year with two excellent performances. These included a dual against a tough Great Bend team, as well as a Dodge City Varsity tournament that featured many teams from all areas.
The Pratt High School Boys’ Wrestling team recently competed in the 2025 Dodge City Varsity Tournament at the United Wireless Arena. This was a two-day contest filled with stiff competition from schools across the whole state of Kansas. The Greenbacks fought hard and had some valuable takeaways from this tournament.
The Kiowa County High School boys basketball team continues to chalk up wins in the victory column as momentum carries them from late games into 2025.
While a student at Pratt High School, Travis Theis made a name for himself. He led the Greenbacks to a 4A State Championship title in 2016 (the first in 20 years) and a state runner-up finish in 2018.
There have been several snow flurries in the Tri-County Tribune area of sports coverage to start off the new year, but the St. John Lady Tigers basketball team are creating some flurries of their own. With three games this past week, the St.John-Hudson girls have pushed their record up to 8-1 storming to 15 straight wins at home dating back to last season.
