Barton Community College announces addition of women’s wrestling program for 2026-2027
The Barton Community College Board of Trustees voted unanimously at its September meeting to approve the launch of a women’s wrestling program, set to begin competition in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Skyline cross country runs at Ness City
The Skyline running Thunderbirds traveled to Ness City for the Clyde T. McCracken Invitational held on Thursday, October 2, at the Ness City Country Club. This was a real opportunity for Skyline to test its mettle against some tough competitors in preparation for post-season action. The results were good for the Birds, with the boys finishing in fourth position as a team and the girls continuing to improve with each meet.

Pratt celebrates volleyball seniors during busy week
The Pratt High School volleyball team has had their share of ups and downs as the 2025 season has progressed. The team recently competed in their annual senior night triangular meet, in which they hosted two tough schools in Hillsboro and Hesston, where they unfortunately took two losses. They also competed in the annual Kingman varsity tournament, where they posted an overall record of 3-2.

Overwatch 2 team enters competitions
The Pratt Community College (PCC) Overwatch 2 team embarks on a new mission competing in the Fall 2025 Collegiate Overwatch Homecoming Open sponsored by the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). The team consisting of freshman Jaden Pugh, Alexa Garcia Pedroza and Isabel Ann and sophomores Joshua Packard, Carlos Garcia Pedroza and Taj Thomas will compete in a collegiate Overwatch league for the first time as a program under head esports coach Charles Keefer.


Tennis players from Kiowa County earn medals
Hard work in practice is paying off for members of the Kiowa County High School tennis team, under the direction of Coach Katherine Sneed. The medal count is increasing as the season progresses, both for those players who came in with experience and those new to the sport this year for USD 422.

Pratt football shuts out Collegiate in homecoming game
