Red shirts helped create drug awareness discussions

Demonstrating their commitment to the Pratt community during National Drug Awareness Day, Elks Lodge #1451, in collaboration with the non-profit DEC (Drugs Endangered Children), sponsored a drive-thru “Red Shirt Sundae Celebration” on April 23 for local children. The ice cream treats were accompanied by Elks DAP bookmarks and stickers featuring the “Elks Say No to Drugs” logo.

Williamson wedding proposal goes viral

Terry Williamson is most widely known in Pratt as an entrepreneur with a varied portfolio including rental properties, a laundromat, storage facilities, TK Handyman Services, and car rentals. What most don’t know is that he is also an airplane pilot with a romantic side, and that romanticism recently found Williamson making local, national, and international news.

Measles cases continue to rise

As of Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Kansas has 37 confirmed cases of measles in eight counties in the southwest part of the state. Kiowa County has six documented cases of measles at this time, according to the Kansas Department of Health data, accessible at https://www.kdhe.ks.gov/2314/Measles-Data.

Oz becomes biggest production yet for Barclay College

Director Randi Shetley and a host of crew leaders and helpers, plus a talented cast of more than 100 actors, actresses and technicians, brought light, life and laughter to the Ross-Ellis Center for Arts and Ministry on the Barclay College campus the past two weekends in Haviland. The Wizard of Oz, a timeless story of triumph over adversity proved there is “no place like home” and that joy is in in the journey.
