Kadi Richardson graduated from Skyline High School in Pratt in 2014, a top student in her class with interests that ranged from horse riding to playing basketball and to involvement with just about any activity offered. Eleven years later in 2025, she can see how all of that involvement led her to where she is now - a software integration engineer with extensive travel opportunities.

Moving to Pratt as a teenager, KAKE-TV news anchor Deb Farris had no way of knowing that the town would shape her life in such a lasting way. Having moved to a farm just west of Pratt before her sophomore year of high school, she managed to adjust to what seemed like a much bigger town.

Two wrecks took place the first week in May on U.S. Highway 54 in Kiowa County. The first was a double-semi side swipe that ripped open the trailer of one semi truck and left a second truck nose-ended on the nearby railroad tracks on the north side of the highway near the Pratt County line. The second wreck on May 8 claimed the lives of a woman and two children when a Ford F-150 they were in crashed head-on with a semi-truck one mile east of Mullinville.

TOPEKA – Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) Secretary Christopher Kennedy has issued orders designating several Free Fishing and Free State Park Entrance days. The announcement was made at the April 24 Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission meeting.
