Art show brings the Filley to life

The Vernon Filley Art Museum is an active place with summer art craft workshops, shared library treasure hunt activities, evening openings and celebrations for adults, and more. There is almost always a good reason to stop in at the Filley, even if it is to just browse the ever-changing selections at the Filley Gift Shop. On Saturday, July 19, however, the galleries and show rooms of the art museum were jam-packed with a conversational crowd which came to see the opening of the Ninnescah Valley Art Show.

Celebrating 100 years at Elm Mills

Elm Mills is one hundred years old. What a credit to the place. A celebration of the one hundred years took place on the Fourth of July weekend. After being acquainted with Elm Mills for a number of years through friends, etc. we joined as members around 1990. Also, my Father-in-law used to travel to that area many years ago when he sold groceries to the stores in the area. He told us stories of when it was a public swimming area, and he could stop when he was traveling there and enjoy.

Summer is for Vacation Bible School

The halls of Calvary Baptist Church in Stafford were filled with joy and excitement as Wonder Junction Vacation Bible School (VBS) welcomed 57 young participants this past week. The program, designed for children from ages four through sixth grade, offered a unique blend of Bible-based learning and engaging activities.

Donations accepted for youth summer camp attenders through Core Life

Pratt and Kiowa County youth have been hard at work raising money to go to summer camp under the direction of Youth Core Ministries directors in both counties. With camp dates just around the corner, Director of Core Life and Pratt Operations Kyle Nauman visited the Pratt Lions Club recently to talk about the impact of Core Life on local youth and the need for community support.

PRMC Fall Prevention Day in October requires early sign-up and planning

Bunched up rugs, a poorly placed extension cord, missing hand rails in the bathroom, or any number of other small problems can lead to preventable falls for the elderly. On Saturday, October 11, Pratt Regional Medical Center will lead a Pratt Community Fall Prevention Day to help prevent these types of falls. Early sign-up for this assistance and getting the word out to those who could use this help is a priority at this time, according to Stacey Hanson.
