Last week, my former partners and longtime colleagues Dr. Aaron Zook and Dr. Rachel Hauser thought they were in ongoing negotiations and discussions with PRMC to fill the void of Dr. Dyer leaving, so they could continue caring for the patients of this region as they have with Dr. Dan Suiter and I, for the past 30-40 years.
For 40 residents at Americare Hilltop Manor in Cunningham, and their invited family members and friends, Friday, August 1, 2025 was a day to remember. Elvis came to town, bringing songs, dancing, smiles, clapping, and good memories for those in attendance.
A $10,000 grant from South Central Community Foundation (SCCF) to the Hope Center will bring energy assistance to 24 families, which include veterans, retired elderly, children and single moms struggling with food insecurity. With quiet determination, Pratt Community College tennis teams have built a reckoning among competitors over the past three years under leadership of head coach Jeret Johnson. After a tough season of Division 1 and Division 2 competitions with schools like Cowley College, Seward County, and Barton, the PCC men’s tennis team was elated to win 4th place team in the Nation for 2025.
The green caboose train car that has been a part of Pratt lore since December 2006 has flown the coop. Well, not actually flown but it was picked up last month by a crane from Trand and loaded out overhead onto a big truck, sold to a couple from Arizona who said they intend to use it for much the same purpose that Larry Kahmeyer and family did at the Evergreen Motel on the west side of Pratt.
Enough rain fell in Pratt County late Thursday into Friday, July 25 that sheep and goat pens at the Pratt County Fairgrounds flooded overnight. 4-Hers and parents scrambled Friday morning to clean out the pens and walkways, dry out animals best they could, and replace wet mulch and sawdust bedding with dry.
