Heredia awarded for putting people first at McDonald’s

Visitors to the McDonald’s restaurant in Pratt are liable to encounter a young community leader on the rise. Gabriel Heredia is a high school junior from Pratt High School who is making waves and setting an example for young and old alike. Last month, Heredia was named a winner of a “Put People First” award from Joe Lane’s McDonald’s Restaurant organization.

Ice Age Summit coming to Haviland

The Heart of America Science Resource Center will be hosting “The Great Ice Age Summit,” this spring, April 25-27 in Haviland. This summit will feature several guest speakers and presenters including Michael and Beverly Oard, Brian Young, Stan Lutz, and Raven Brown as well as the museum curator himself, Jerry Simmons.

Comforter Blitz welcomes participants

All are welcome to join the fun at the 17th annual Mennonite Central Committee Comforter Blitz on March 3, 4 and 5 at Journey Facility at the Yoder Campus (activity building behind Charis Community Church), one mile north of Yoder, Kansas. Blitz times are Monday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Note we have extended hours again on Tuesday this year.
