Grants support wide range of activities

True to a mission statement developed in the mid-90s, South Central Community Foundation handed out more than $190,000 in community, education and non-profit grants last week in Pratt to help “assure a bright future for South Central Kansas.”SCCF serves seven southern Kansas counties and has already conducted or has planned similar award ceremonies in Barber, Comanche, Kingman, Kiowa, Rice and Stafford counties, similar to what took place in Pratt on Tuesday, October 24.Assisted by several teens who make up the YMAD (Youth Making a Difference) group, SCCF director Holly Launchbaugh and office professional Hannah Brummer passed out award checks to county, teacher, and achievement organizations and those representatives shared snippets of what the money they received would be used for in future or on-going community-based projects.A $5,000 Children’s Heath Grant, for example, was awarded to DeWayne Bryan and the Pratt Health Foundation.

SBA Disaster Assistance available to Kansas private nonprofit organizations

Low-interest federal disaster loans are now available to certain private nonprofit organizations in Kansas following President Biden’s federal disaster declaration for Public Assistance as a result of severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that occurred July 14 - 21, announced Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman of the U.S.
