Cross Manufacturing recognized in Kansas Commerce’ program

Cross Manufacturing of Hays, Lewis and Pratt was one of 13 Kansas manufacturers accepted into the Kansas Department of Commerce’s first Made in Kansas program.Last week, Kansas Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland announced the inductees and said this program has been designed to help promote Kansas manufacturers to customers across Kansas and around the globe.The Made in Kansas program showcases Kansas-made products and provide those companies with a verified stamp of assurance for use in promotional activities.

USD #422 BOE: Influx of students creates need for class-size discussion

With the number of students applying to attend Kiowa County USD 422 schools, board of education members felt it necessary to discuss a need to place limits on class sizes should that become necessary, at their October 24, 2023 meeting.Board members present at the meeting brought to order by President Ki Gamble, included Paul Kendall, David Allison, Mike Greenleaf, Tony Rhodes and Cory Zenger.

Mental and behavioral health crisis is focus of grants received by KU School of Medicine-Wichita

WICHITA, KANSAS — Interdepartmental collaboration at KU School of Medicine-Wichita between the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences has resulted in the receipt of two federal grants totaling nearly $3 million.Almost $900,000 will establish a new program, Kansas Educating Excellent Psychologists and Psychiatrists for Underserved/Rural Youth Patients, otherwise known as KEEP UP, which will expand training positions for psychiatrists and psychologists in community-based settings to serve children, adolescents and transition-age individuals with mental health concerns and risky substance use.

NCK Tech instructor recognized with prestigious award

Mark MacConnell, Automotive Technology instructor with North Central Kansas Technical College on the Hays Campus – is the recipient of the 2023 Kansas Council for Workforce Education - Outstanding New Teacher Award.The Outstanding New Teacher Award is designed to recognize a faculty member who has less than five years teaching experience and demonstrates outstanding teaching ability in the areas of career and technical education.
