State Champ Camp continues cherished summer tradition for Pratt wrestlers

What began as a local wrestling camp 10 years ago has grown into a cherished summer tradition in Pratt. This year from July 30 through August 2 the Pratt Wrestling Club’s ‘State Champ Camp’ hosted 75 registered participants, which was more than twice as many as in 2024. Young wrestlers, coaches, parents, and camp alumni joined in what is an inspiring celebration of grit, growth, and Greenback pride.

Green caboose leaves Pratt for Arizona

The green caboose train car that has been a part of Pratt lore since December 2006 has flown the coop. Well, not actually flown but it was picked up last month by a crane from Trand and loaded out overhead onto a big truck, sold to a couple from Arizona who said they intend to use it for much the same purpose that Larry Kahmeyer and family did at the Evergreen Motel on the west side of Pratt.

Barclay College to host Buckets N Boards

Barclay College in Haviland, Kansas will host a special live performance by Buckets N Boards, one of the most popular and sought-after comedy percussion acts in the country. This high-energy, family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, August 17, at 3:30 p.m. on the campus of Barclay College. Tickets are expected to sell quickly for this one-time performance.

That’s enough rain already

Enough rain fell in Pratt County late Thursday into Friday, July 25 that sheep and goat pens at the Pratt County Fairgrounds flooded overnight. 4-Hers and parents scrambled Friday morning to clean out the pens and walkways, dry out animals best they could, and replace wet mulch and sawdust bedding with dry.
