Bolen talks to city commission about rising property taxes

During the Open Agenda portion of the August 18 Pratt regular commission meeting, the commission heard from one resident concerned with the proposal to allow the revenue rate to rise with inflation. It is not surprising that there was some public response given that, since its last meeting, the city had sent out a letter announcing its intention to raise the rate. It is perhaps surprising that there were not more concerned residents.

Farm families awarded by Pratt County Farm Bureau

The Pratt County Farm Bureau honored several members and area farmers for their achievements in agriculture at their annual meeting last Thursday at the Pratt County 4-H Building. Nick and Josie Fox, and their daughters Bryleigh and Layne, were named the Pratt County Farm Family of the Year, and Darren and Jill Hodgkinson were recognized as the Pratt County Natural Resources Award recipient for this year.

Gas prices continue to fall

Average gasoline prices in Kansas have fallen 2.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.82/g, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 1,329 stations in Kansas. Prices in Kansas are 3.7 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 29.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has decreased 1.9 cents compared to a week ago and stands at $3.671 per gallon.
