Shots fired by elderly man

Shots fired on Labor Day in Kiowa County, Kansas created a tense afternoon for area residents.On Monday, September 3, law enforcement officers from the Greensburg Police Department, Kiowa County Sheriff, Pratt County Sheriff, and Kansas Highway Patrol departments were all alerted to a dangerous situation in the City of Greensburg.According to a press release from the Greensburg Police Department, at approximately 4:35 p.m., officers from the Greensburg Police Department and Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 400 block of Main St in Greensburg on a shots fired call.

Area schools get off to a great start

School has started for all ages of students in the Tri-County Tribune coverage area, and despite the heat, students and teachers are having fun getting back into the rhythm of classes, schedules, and learning.At Skyline Schools, middle school students enjoyed a special water fun day on August 16, complete with sponge relays, red solo cup competitions, and other group activities.“It was a good way to cool off and celebrate students back in the classroom on our first Friday together,” said High School Prinicipal and Co-Middle School Principal Steve Novotny.Novotny steps into an administrative position this year after serving as high school and middle school band director for several years in the district.
