Medallions for Vietnam veterans, special gifts for the oldest military branch representatives present, songs of God and country and heartfelt words from speakers brought honor and recognition to a large contingent of Pratt area veterans on November 16 at the Pratt Elks Lodge.

Seven years ago, Dany Kravitz didn’t think he could get clean. He was homeless, crashing on couches and pushed his family to the point where they were done with him due to his addiction to drugs and alcohol.

On November 18, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly congratulated the City of Greensburg for receiving $150,000 in Cost Share funds as administered through the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). This project will bring a new utility system to Greensburg Municipal Airport.

Childcare is a community need that has become one of the significant needs over the last couple of years, so Economic Development Director Julie Lyon is pursuing a solution with passion. At the Greensburg City Council Meeting on November 15th, Lyon presented an update on her solution.

The cast and crew of the hit review known as "All Together Now!" perfected three performances encompassing 15 songs, 6 big dance numbers and over 160 costumes last weekend at Barclay College, much to the delight of ticket-holders. All shows took place at the still-new Ross-Ellis Fine Arts Building on the Barclay campus in Haviland.

South Central Community Foundation (SCCF) was excited to award over $16,000 in community, children’s health, and teacher’s grants to the communities of Kiowa County this fall. Covering seven counties, SCCF’s goal is to reach many diff�erent sectors of each community, hopefully making a large impact with limited funding.

Sweet Adelines is a world wide organization of women that love to sing, learn and perform. The Pratt division of this choral group, under the direction of Kyra Dauner, is planning a special Christmas show at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 12 at the First United Methodist Church. All are welcome to attend.

The Pratt High School Student Council wishes to thank everyone in the community who helped in this year's Drive to Thrive canned food drive. The student council sponsored the two-week canned food drive for the benefit of the Pratt County Food Bank. A total of 3,455 items were given to the food bank as a result of the drive including $270 in cash donations from those participating in the collecting for the drive. Cash donations are counted as $1 equals 1 canned good.

Blake Keith, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks; Jeffrey Nix, Pratt Police Department; and Kelton Barrett, Pratt Police Department were among 24 new law enforcement officers graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) on Nov. 12 at a ceremony held in KLETC’s Integrity Auditorium.
