AS THE secretary of the Kansas Department of Agriculture, I regularly talk with farmers, ranchers, agribusiness owners, and other stakeholders across the state. Sadly, the issues of ag stress, mental health and even suicide have been at the forefront of many discussions over the past three years.
ASIDE FROM producing milk, cows manufacture another nutritious ingredient for soil health — manure. In mid-November, two non-profits got together to tell farmers about the advantages of, partnering with local dairies.

Dr. Frederick J. Farmer, III, D.O., A.M.E., specializes in family medicine, aviation medicine, and wilderness medicine. St. John Clinic is also staffed with a physician assistant Monday through Friday. St. John Clinic services include family medicine, routine exams, school/sports physicals, pap smears, urgent care for illness and injury, referrals to specialty physicians, influenza and pneumonia vaccinations, administration of injectable allergy medications. As one of the area’s few aviation medicine specialists, Dr. Farmer also provides pilots with annual physicals required to retain their license.

Christopher King and Jonathan Clayton started working on and selling craft projects from home in late spring of 2021, so when the Mullinville City Council decided to approve the conversion of the old elementary school into a small business incubator, King and Clayton combined funds and jumped on the opportunity to get their projects out of the house and to put a shop together.

TOPEKA — Kansas political icon Bob Dole, who represented the state for decades in Washington, D.C., and was the Republican nominee for president in 1996, died Sunday morning at age 98. The Elizabeth Dole Foundation announced his death.
