THE KIOWA COUNTY Senior Center (Greensburg), Sunflower Senior Center of St. John, and the Stafford Senior Center are among 22 area senior centers from across the southwest part of the state named as a 2021 Focal Point by the SoutWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging (SWKAAA). The award, announced last month by SWKAAA Executive Director Rick Schaffer, recognizes programs and services provided from October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2021, for citizens of Kansas.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Christmas trees bring Christmas glee, but they can bring even more than that once the holiday season is past, says Kansas State University forester Charlie Barden.

The Christmas meal this past Friday at the Kiowa County Senior Center was sponsored by Centera Bank and Kiowa County memorial Hospital. As always, everyone had a fantastic meal and wonderful fellowship. Thank you to the bank and the hospital for their continued support and love for the senior center!

THE STAFFORD COUNTY Board of County Commissioners met in regular session on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Chairman Grimmett called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Clayton Grimmett, Todd Wycoff and Bryce Garner.

Editor’s Note: Natalie Clark, business educator at USD 382 St. John-Hudson High School, has started a special class for her students called Business Essentials. As part of their course requirements, students are writing about the businesses they see in around the community of St. John as part of a promotional campaign.

BEING IN BUSINESS for over 100 years can bring a positive change to the community of Pratt. During this past century, New York Life has given back to the community of Pratt by doing various charitable projects. C.L. Meigs, Agent and Registered Representative, was raised and graduated from Pratt, moved away for some time, and now is the owner of New York Life.

A positive screening includes any of the following: fever, any listed COVID-19 symptoms or if answers exposure questions positively. Patients seeking care will ALWAYS be allowed in regardless of positive screening.

The Lemon Park Christmas Lights display has long been a seasonal favorite of local citizens and for many with or without ties to Pratt. More than 80 lighted displays are up for walking or drive by viewing from the end of November until throught the first week of January in Pratt’s Lemon Park.
