TOPEKA — Connie Owen, director of Kansas Water Office, says the governor’s recommendation to restore funding for water projects has given her organization momentum as it considers a wide range of needs.

When the congregants of two Kingman County churches discovered more about their newly appointed pastor, they decided to help the new member of their communities rather than turn away. When the congregants discovered their new minister’s fellow villagers had to carry water from a well about 5 miles away, they went into action.

Kansas Day at the Pratt County Historical Museum is always something special, with retired schoolteachers coming out in costume to lead and share with local students and history that comes to life with local cowboys demonstrating riding, roping and gear basics. This year, winter weather caused a stir that resulted in rescheduled visits and an extra week of Kansas fun.
