Kiowas County Senior Center participants enjoyed a fun spirit week along with KCHS students last week dressing comfy, in Maverick gear, in a Peace and Love style and then all dressed up on Friday for homecoming.

Rattlesnake Meat Company opens doors for meat-lovers in Pratt area

Matt and Marci Wooster are the faces and managers of Rattlesnake Meat Company, a new storefront in Pratt that is affiliated with Morning Star Farms in Kiowa County. Located at 112 N. Main Street in Pratt where the former Gatlin Pharmacy used to do business, the Rattlesnake Meat Company uses that space for eight large deep freezers that are stocked with a wide-variety of beef cuts to meet customers needs.

Sen. Marshall supports legislation to protect Kansas small businesses from IRS snooping

(Washington, D.C., February 11, 2022) – U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. announced his support of the Stop the Nosy Obsession with Online Payments (SNOOP) Act, a bill to strike the tax code provision inserted by the Biden Administration in the American Rescue Plan (ARP) that requires third-party payment platforms to report businesses’ gross transaction volumes totaling more than $600 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

S & S Tire and S & S Towing & Recovery keep area vehicles rolling

S & S Tire is a locally owned tire shop operated by Marshal Sanders. The tire shop is located at 602 W First Avenue in St. John, Kansas. S & S Tire was opened in February of 2013 and has one employee and that is the owner. The hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sanders also goes out with the service truck on emergency calls for tire repairs and replacements.
