February Lunch & Learn focuses on health care

Local community members met for lunch and an educational program on Wednesday, February 23 in St. John at the Sandyland Shepherd’s Center. Brett Middleton, CEO of Heart of Kansas Family Health Care, Inc., presented the program about their health care operations. A sliding scale of discounted fees is available to those who qualify, and they are committed to serve their clients, no matter their ability to pay.

USD 350 hires a new principal for next year

The USD 350 Board of Education has approved a two-year contract for Angela Petersen to perform the duties of elementary principal starting in the 2022-23 school year. The principal duties have been covered by Superintendent, Josh Meyer for the past six years. In order to support the staff and meet the needs of students, the board determined that a separate position for elementary principal is once again required.

True North prepares a home for foster care boys in Haviland

True North is a foster care group in Kiowa County that is aiming to provide the gold standard in foster care homes for kids. Executive director Brad Lingafelter said he is aiming to be able to provide a place for teenage boys who are a part of the foster care system that are in need of housing. Recently, this program closed a purchase on a home that is going to be a place for these kids to call home.
