Dunn receives first Alpers scholarship

On May 14, Preston Dunn, a member of the Jolly Workers 4-H Club, was awarded the first ever, “Clarence and Vera Alpers Stafford County 4-H Scholarship”. The scholarship is available to current high school seniors at Stafford County high schools (or home-schooling) who are active Stafford County 4-H members demonstrating leadership and program involvement.

Vacation Bible School focuses on Ark events

The Greensburg First United Methodist Church hosted Vacation Bible School for Kiowa County children ages 4 years through 5th grade on May 23-25, studying the topic “In the Days of Noah.” Jerry and Linda Simmons of the Heart of America Science Resource Center in Haviland came in to share with the kids about the Ark, the animals, and the great flood events, as they are depicted in the Bible. Much was learned with hands-on activities and thought-provoking study that kept the children (and adults) entertained from 5:30 p.m.

Two 1MW solar fields turned on to bring savings to Pratt and Greensburg area members

Ninnescah Rural Electric Cooperative commissioned two 1MW solar fields last week in Kiowa and Pratt counties. The power generated by these solar fields will be enjoyed by hundreds of Ninnescah Rural Electric Cooperative members for years to come. This project consists of 3,500 panels each and covers roughly 8 acres of land per field.
