Students collaborate with city to create first-ever St. John Jubilee Scavenger Hunt

The St. John Jubilee Historical Scavenger Hunt began at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 28, at the Information Booth near the fountain in the Square and ended before the start of the annual Jubilee Parade. This new event was the collaboration of creative student minds and city leaders who were on board with bringing something new to the annual St. John event.

Kansans safely dispose of more than 3.5 tons of unused medicines

Kansans safely disposed of more than 3.5 tons of unused and unwanted medicines during last month’s National Drug Take-Back Day, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said last week. Kansas law enforcement officers collected 7,362 pounds of medicines at 66 locations throughout the state during the April 30 event, according to a report from the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

Grant funds student emergency training at Macksville

In case of emergency, many students at Macksville High School are now ready to lend a helping hand! The Macksville City Library received a $2,000 grant from theSouth Central Community Foundationto provide potentially lifesaving training to MHS Freshmen, Intro to FCS, and Human A&P students. The library partnered with MHS teachers Carrie Newdigger, Kat McAllister and Kyle Bright to offer Adult, Child & Infant CPR, First Aid, and AED training as part of an online course through the American Red Cross.
