City leaders approve new venue for Pratt’s Oktoberfest

This year, Pratt’s annual Oktoberfest will be held at Lemon Park instead of at the Green Sports Complex as in its previous four years. Three of the event’s organizers, Jackie Mundt, Dakota Holtgrieve, and Scott Goodheart presented their reasons for the change of venue to the Pratt City Board of Commissioners at its July 5th meeting. Mayor Deeds was not able to be present at the meeting as he was in the hospital.

Special visitors stop by in Stafford County

On June 25, Lyn and Larry Fenwick of Macksville took some special visitors to the Stafford Co. Museum Library in Stafford and the Homecoming Hall Museum in St. John, where they were hosted by Michael Hathaway. These visitors were modern day relatives of Isaac Werner, the subject of Lyn’s book “Prairie Bachelor: The Story of a Kansas Homesteader and the Populist Movement.” (University Press of Kansas, 2020).
