STAFFORD COUN- TY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) High Risk Warrant Team, supported by the Kansas Highway Patrol Special Response Team, were requested to assist in the execution of a search warrant in Macksville, Kansas.
During the first quarter of 2022, 85% of small business owners said their business was affected by inflation, and 67% were forced to raise prices, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
MANHATTAN, Kansas — The Kansas Department of Agriculture has published a Kansas Agribusiness Commodity Flow Study, which analyses the movement of crops, livestock, and other agricultural products within and from the state of Kansas. The study was the result of a need identified through KDA’s Ag Growth Strategy project which indicated that multiple sectors across Kansas agriculture would benefit from a thorough understanding of commodity flow both intra and interstate.
On Thursday, July 14, the USD 382 Board of Education met to discuss various topics concerning school and personnel updates. First, the meeting was kicked off with Beth Shelden being appointed the new board clerk, and Sheila Lunsford as board treasurer. Socorro Acosta was also approved to be the deputy board clerk. These actions both passed.

The St. John City Swimming Pool is free to all this summer thanks to the Trinity Community Church’s ministry. Last week the 113 degree weather brought out the most swimmers the pool has had all summer. There were 68 swimmers on the hottest day of this year!
There seemed no end to opportunities for fun at the 75th Anniversary of the Pratt County Fair this year. With inflatable bouncy houses, a mechanical bull ride, food trucks, face painting, heavy equipment and rock wall climbing there was something for everyone to enjoy. The fair also featured Eli’s Camel Rides, an aquarium brought in by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and a Saturday car show in the parking lot. Free evening concerts by Phil Vandel and WhiskeySouthForty took place during the week, but it was the demolition derby on Friday and a Schiffters country music concert featuring Martina McBride that brought the crowds.
