Free COVID-19 tests now available for all Kansas communities

TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), in partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation’s public charity, RF Catalytic Capital, and Project Access to Covid Tests (Project ACT), is now offering free at-home COVID-19 tests to households in all Kansas communities. All Kansas households can now visit AccessCovidTests.org and enter their zip code to place an order for 5 at-home COVID-19 test kits. Amazon will deliver the test kits directly to your house.

USD 350 holds career fair

On Monday, September 19, a fourth-sixth grade hands-on Career Fair was held at the Stafford County Annex in St. John. Senior students from Mrs. Joanna McAlister’s English class planned, organized, and facilitated the Career Fair.

Pratt County deputies among Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center basic training graduates

jlevy@kletc.org HUTCHINSON – Twenty-one new law enforcement officers graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) on July 29 at a ceremony held in the KLETC Integrity Auditorium. Officer Spencer Putman of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks was the graduating class president.

Layoffs at Emporia State have tenured faculty across Kansas wondering if they’re next

Last week, Emporia State University professor Max McCoy penned a column that began, “I may be fired for writing this.” McCoy, Emporia State’s sole journalism professor and advisor to the student newspaper, was among 33 faculty members laid off as part of a large-scale restructuring in response to declining enrollment. His column had criticized the move and university leadership.
