At the May 5 regular meeting, the Pratt City Commission heard a request presented by Sarah Bondy who, along with Brenna Thomas and Kelsey Popovich, leads a grassroots organization called IMPACT (Investing in Meaningful Projects and Community Togetherness). Two wrecks took place the first week in May on U.S. Highway 54 in Kiowa County. The first was a double-semi side swipe that ripped open the trailer of one semi truck and left a second truck nose-ended on the nearby railroad tracks on the north side of the highway near the Pratt County line. The second wreck on May 8 claimed the lives of a woman and two children when a Ford F-150 they were in crashed head-on with a semi-truck one mile east of Mullinville.
