Colin Hanson, the general manager of the Kansas Power Pool, spoke to the council about this struggle and shared his desire to help keep energy costs lower and how the company is recovering from the winter storm Yuri which caused massive debt. This debt is being paid off much faster than most companies which operate in the private sector. Hanson also brought forth mention of a name change for the company in order to help consumers more clearly understand the mission of KPP. He proposed this name change and the council made a resolution to authorize this name change and it passed unanimously.
Kansas Farm Bureau (KFB) has purchased Shop Kansas Farms (SKF), an online community that connects consumers with Kansas farmers and ranchers. “Kansas Farm Bureau is excited about this partnership and what it means to current and future users of Shop Kansas Farms,” said Terry Holdren, CEO of Kansas Farm Bureau.
The Board of Education of Unified School District No. 422, State of Kansas, Kiowa County, met for a revenue neutral hearing at the school district office, 710 S. Main Street in Greensburg. The hearing was called to order by President Ki Gamble at 8 p.m.

On Monday, September 26, members of the Pratt High School Student Council traveled to Eisenhower High School in Goddard for the Regional Conference. There, they had the opportunity to meets other members of StuCo from various schools and listen to presentations given by former Stu-Co members and leaders.
Dr. Tisa Mason, President of Ft. Hays State University (FHSU), visited Pratt Community College (PCC) on a recent media tour. Dr. Mason shared FHSU initiatives that will have a direct impact Statewide.
TOPEKA — Schools across the state this week are observing Kansas Anti-Bullying Awareness Week. “By resolution, the Kansas Senate and the Kansas State Board of Education have declared the first full week in October Anti-Bullying Awareness Week,”said Kent Reed, an education program consultant, counseling and social-emotional character development, for the Kansas State Department of Education’s Career, Standards and Assessment Services team.
