Time will tell to what extent a new venue for boxing will impact local youth in Pratt, but those leading the way are excited for the possibilities. Chad Young, Young Gunz Boxing Club owner, was in Pratt last week for a very special presentation at Pratt’s new boxing venue located in the former Bodies Elite Gym and Fitness Center at 109 E.

Having been raised in a musical family, I was introduced to classical music at a very young age. My mother was an accomplished cellist who played forty years in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra.

A group of young people at the Pratt Teen Center have taken their visions of spookiness and lifted them into reality with the help of adult advisors to create the Hotel of Nightmares at 408 S. Main in Pratt.
LENEXA, KAN. – The U.S.Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing a solicitation for nominations to serve on its Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC), which advises EPA on critical environmental issues impacting local governments. The agency is also accepting nominations for LGAC’s Small Communities Advisory Subcommittee (SCAS).
Thursday October 13 was the Pratt Public Library’s annual FUNdraiser. The event lasted from 5-7 p.m. Participants could purchase $1 tickets to spend on activities at booths set up around the library. Kids had also earned tickets in the weeks leading up to the festival by answering daily trivia questions. The activities included an inflatable obstacle course, pumpkin decorating, snacks, and various games including a ring toss, cornhole, bobbing for apples, several different kinds of races, duck float, basket toss, card games, and other events. There was also a photo booth and a station where people could listen to a spooky story. Early in the evening Daren Dunn from My 93.1 FM was present and broadcast live from the library.

The South Central Community Foundation has been charged to disperse 100 percent of the donations raised at the St. John-Hudson’s Youth Creations Art Auction. More than $11,000 will be gifted to the St. John-Hudson USD #350 school, area students, and local staff as a result of the art auction that took place on May 27 during the Jubilee in St. John.
