Scarecrows elicit fun times for Thursday night shopping event downtown

A dozen scarecrows, decorated by downtown Pratt business owners, added extra smiles to shopping fun Thursday at the Fall Flannel Fest Ladies Night Out event in Pratt. A retail committee for Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce members handed out face and wooden body kits to participating businesses earlier this month. But creative limitations from there were few as shop owners were responsible for their own finished product.

New comprehensive plan approved; new pool cost will be more than $6M The City of Pratt has approved its next comprehensive plan. City commission members are supposed to be implement such a plan every 20 years and this plan would ideally have been implemented in 2020, but the COVID pandemic delayed the process.

USDA provides payments of nearly $800 Million in assistance to help keep farmers farming

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced that distressed borrowers with qualifying USDA farm loans have already received nearly $800 million in assistance, as part of the $3.1 billion in assistance for distressed farm loan borrowers provided through Section 22006 of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Pratt band members showcase marching skills at Friday football game

Pratt High School band members put on several energetic performances as part of Senior Night activities during the Friday night Greenback football game. Prior to the game and after senior introductions and recognition, Greenback members in the Pride of South Central Kansas showcases their marching and musical skills with a the group performed at the ESU Marching Band Festival earlier in October, where they earned an Excellent rating.
